In what is a shortened round of AFL due to the Bye Round I will take a multi which requires Geelong, Brisbane and Collingwood to win their matches. The multi price is $3.03. If you would like to shop for a bigger quote you could add West Coast and GWS which swells the price to $9.48.
In First Goal Scorer betting I am backing Gary Rohan at $11, Charlie Cameron at $10, Ben Brown at $7 and Josh Kennedy at $7.50.
I will take a multi with South Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to win their respective matches this weekend. The multi price is $3.24.
WORLD CUP CRICKET
Australia recorded one of their finest World Cup victories overnight, recovering from 5/79 to post 288 thanks largely to Steve Smith’s 73 and Nathan Coulter-Nile’s swashbuckling 92. From there the Aussie spearhead Mitchell Starc shone with the ball for the Aussies taking 5/46 and restricting the Windies to 273. It leaves the Aussies unbeaten after their first two matches and sets up a mouth-watering contest against India on Sunday night.
Tonight Pakistan play Sri Lanka in a match where Pakistan should dominate – however Pakistan are a very hot and cold outfit and personally I will not be getting involved with them at the short price of $1.35 to win.
Instead I will have a couple of smaller novelty bets with Babar Azam to be the leading runscorer for Pakistan at $3.20 and will back him to win Man Of The Match at $5.50.
On Saturday night England at $1.13 will be too strong for Bangladesh and New Zealand at $1.14 will defeat Afghanistan while on Sunday I will back in the Aussies to defeat India at $2.00. The multi with that trio is $2.57.
In novelty plays in those matches I am getting involved with Joe Root most runs England, Kane Williamson most runs New Zealand and Steve Smith most runs Australia.
FRENCH OPEN TENNIS
I am a huge fan of Ash Barty and I really hope she can go all the way and take out the French Opens Women’s Title. I have taken a multi with Barty to win the Women’s Title and Nadal to win the Men’s which is paying $3.97.
Another great day of racing to look forward to at Belmont and Group 1 Racing to look forward to at Doomben.
My best bets of the weekend are as follows :
Eagle Farm Saturday Race 1 Number 1 Plague Stone (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $2.15) : 3 Year old son of Lohnro who is racing in fine style. Three runs in this time have resulted in 2 wins and a second behind the flying Zoustyle. This race looks well within his wheelhouse and I expect McEvoy to get favourite backers off to a flyer with this fellow.
Eagle Farm Saturday Race 5 Number 14 Pohutukawa (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $6) : Get back-run on filly who was unlucky last time out in the Fred Best when beaten only three lengths and charging to the line. Looks set to hand in a peak run for this and at each way odds I am happy to be on. Jockey Blake Shinn is riding really well and from barrier 4 should get every chance.
Flemington Saturday Race 7 Number 12 Dr Drill (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $2.20) : Former European galloper who has been runner up at 2 of his 3 Australian runs and looks ready to win. The barrier and weight look suitable and should be fitter for three runs in this country. The one they all have to beat.
Belmont Saturday Race 5 Number 7 Battle Storm (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $2.05) : Unbeaten Son of Statue Of Liberty who impressed greatly at his only two lifetime starts at this track in September of last year. Trainer Adam Durrant has spoken glowingly in regards to his opinion of this three year old and he looks set to make a winning return from a nice draw and with the services of William Pike.
Cannington Saturday Race 10 Number 2 Incredible Hero (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price Not Available) : Exciting sprinter who had no luck at his most recent run in the final of the Group 2 WA Derby and prior to that recorded two sizzling wins. Drops in class here and should be too slick. Other nice bets on the card look to be 3-3 West On Tia and 6-3 Westdale Anne.
