Once again a shortened round of AFL due to the Bye Round and Thursday night footy.
I will take a multi which requires Fremantle, Geelong and Collingwood to all win. The multi price is $3.72.
In First Goal Scorer betting I am backing Michael Walters at $9, Charlie Cameron at $11 and Gary Rohan at $10.
STATE OF ORIGIN GAME 2
A historic event takes place at Optus Stadium on Sunday night with the first ever hosting of a State Of Origin fixture in WA when Queensland take on New South Wales.
Queensland head in with a 1-0 advantage and in the second half of game one they were all over the top of the Blues.
From a betting perspective it is $1.90 each of two and it shapes as being a tight and ferocious contest.
I will lean towards Queensland with their momentum out of game 1 to prevail at $1.90 and will be backing Dane Gagai at $8.50 to be the first try scorer.
WORLD CUP CRICKET
Overnight Australia recorded a stylish victory over Bangladesh piling on 5/381 before restricting Bangladesh to 8/333.
David Warner maintained his hot form at the top of the order scoring 166 while Usman Khawaja with 89 and Aaron Finch with 53 both helped the cause.
With the ball Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis and Nathan Coulter-Nile all chimed in with 2 wickets apiece.
This weekend England look too strong for Sri Lanka, India look to good for Afghanistan and I think New Zealand will defeat the West Indies while next week I think Bangladesh will defeat Afghanistan. The multi is paying $2.22.
Some of the better novelty plays of the weekend look to be Joe Root most runs England at $3.20, Kane Williamson most runs New Zealand at $3.20 and Babar Azam most runs Pakistan at $3.50.
Plenty of rain forecast around the nation tomorrow so be sure to check the track conditions and keep an eye out for the wet-trackers.
My best bets of the weekend are as follows :
Randwick Saturday Race 4 Number 9 Almanzora (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $6.00) : Quality mare who has a great fresh card and gets in beautifully here with just 50 kilograms courtesy of the claim of gun apprentice Robbie Dolan. Importantly has won on heavy ground in the past and looks an excellent each way play at the $6.
Flemington Saturday Race 7 Number 4 Bam’s On Fire (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $3.20) : Former West Aussie who has been in slashing form this preparation winning all three starts including her last two at Caulfield. Does have to deal with the 1200 metres up the straight for the first time here but on what she has done her last few is very hard to oppose.
Belmont Saturday Race 4 Number 13 Battle Storm (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $1.90) : Exciting prospect who is undefeated after three lifetime starts and recently resumed with a stylish victory over the 1000 metres. Looks likely to zoom his way through the classes and barring severe misfortune he should make it four on the trot here. Looks a nice multi banker.
Belmont Saturday Race 8 Number 3 Great Again (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $2.90) : Belmont specialist who has won all six tries at this venue. Defeated a quality lineup at his first run back from a break and that was in horrendous conditions which we are likely to again be encountering on Saturday afternoon. Is four for four on soft ground and continue on his wonderful love affair with the Belmont circuit here.
Mandurah Friday Race 7 Number 5 Cosmic Ox (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price Not Available) : Star sprinter who has blitzed his rivals at both runs back from a break – should win again here. Other nice plays look to be 3-1 Starter Up, 5-1 Garbrandt, 6-3 Kiss Me Linda and 10-1 Naiqama.
