Here are this week’s top tips on everything sports and racing

The AFL Finals got underway overnight with West Coast proving far too strong for Essendon on their home deck at Optus Stadium prevailing by 55 points.

Tonight Geelong take on Collingwood in what promise to be a sensational clash.

The Cats head in as the slight favourites at $1.77 with Collingwood the $2.10 outsider.

I think Geelong’s best this season has slightly shaded the Pies and have a leaning towards the Cats.

I will be backing Jamie Elliott at $12 and Mitch Duncan at $26 to kick the first goal of the match.

On Saturday the GWS Giants have been well backed from $2.05 into $1.82 while the Western Bulldogs have eased from $1.78 out to $2.

Despite the drift I am happy to side with the Doggies here.

Only a few weeks ago at the same venue the Western Bulldogs dismantled the Giants winning by 61 points and while the Giants welcome back some key players I am confident the Dogs can repeat the dose.

Jeremy Cameron at $7.50 is my play in first goal scorer betting.

Rounding it out on Saturday night at the GABBA where Brisbane are at $2.20 hosting Richmond, the $1.68 favourites.

This is a very tough game to read and I can see it going right down to the wire.

With a little more experience I give the nod to the Tigers to just sneak home.

I will be backing Charlie Cameron at $8.50 and Tom Lynch at $7.50 to kick the first goal of the match.

My multi for the weekend is the Western Bulldogs into Richmond which is paying $3.42.

I’ll take a multi with Melbourne, Canberra and Brisbane to all win this weekend. The multi price is $2.34.

The Fourth Test is two days in and Australia are in command after declaring at 8/497 and having England 1/23 in reply.

After starting as outsiders Australia are now into clear favouritism at $1.83 with the draw at $2 and England at $26.

Steve Smith was once again mighty for the Aussies piling on 211 and our pre-Ashes loadup bet on Smith to be the leading runscorer for the Aussies at $2.80 is looking all but over the line

He is now also well placed to take out Man Of The Match honours for this game at a lovely price of $7.

As stated last week I am very confident the Aussies will go on to close out the Ashes from here – I hope a few of the Blog followers got involved.

My best bets of the weekend are as follows :

Randwick Saturday Race 3 Number 1 Bleu Roche (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $3.60) : Talented type who trialled nicely for her return when beaten less than a length behind the flying Libertini. Goes well fresh having had 2 tries for a win and second. Has won over this trip in the past and looks set for a winning return.

Randwick Saturday Race 9 Number 15 Re Edit (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $7) : Smart mare who was placed behind topliner Kenedna in the O’Shea Stakes last preparation and excels first up where she has had 2 tries for 2 wins.  With the claim for Apprentice Brock Ryan gets in with just 49 kilograms on her back for this which is a serious luxury. Looks a wonderful each way play at $7.

Moonee Valley Saturday Race 4 Number 2 Haut Brion Her (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $2.65) : Has come back from a break in tip-top order winning all three runs this time in over 1200 metres at Canterbury, Randwick and Rosehill. Stays at this trip here and draws to get a lovely run from barrier 3. Hard to knock what she has been doing and looks a super chance to make it 4 straight wins in this.

Belmont Saturday Race 8 Number 5 Cup Night (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $2.35) : Progressive four year old who won all three starts last preparation prior to being placed away for a spell. Could barely have been any more impressive last time in and has trialled up nicely in the build up to his return to the track here. Well drawn and weighted and this looks tailor made for him.

Mandurah Friday Race 7 Number 3 Banjo’s Girl (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price Not Available) : Pinged out of box 8 and gave nothing else a chance last week when winning a similar event. She should again control the event and be hard to beat. The clear danger is number 1 Willie Gundi and I think they will quinella the event. Other nice bets on the card look to be race 3 number 2 She Can Party and race 11 number 1 Hello Issy.
